"You are too hot to be a researcher": Dancing with performative social science

This is an honest narrative about my research journey with Performative Social Science (PSS) so far. It is a story about circles: courage, coincidences and creativity. It is a story about how much we can inspire each other through short meetings and innovative research communities.

The story starts with a quote from Isadora Duncan, a flight to Brussels and a master class in Swansea. It is centered around the meetings I have had with Kip Jones and colleagues throughout the years. Meetings that have nurtured my creativity, nourished my intuition and touched me deeply. The article describes how challenging it can be to work with Performative Social Science in an area, in which researchers often need to take risks and learn to walk through fear. It tells why I keep moving; why my beloved son, whom I lost in the course of this research journey, has been a great teacher; and how I am now a co-creator of new PSS circles encouraging young people to trust their creativity.

The article concludes with a thought on why this book represents a new worldwide possibility for the growing field within PSS — if we support each other and dare to be hot researchers.
