Weight loss before pregnancy and the effect on child health
RESEARCH AREA
Pregnancy and infancy
We conduct randomized trials and observational studies with deep phenotyping during the first 1000 days of life to investigate how diet and weight loss before conception and during pregnancy affect maternal and child health and risk of overweight and lifestyle diseases.
Another key focus is breastfeeding and the optimal composition of breast milk as well associations between early nutrition and growth as well as the influence on later health among infants and toddlers.
- Optimal diet composition during pregnancy to minimize complications among high-risk women
- Influence of diet during pregnancy on offspring health
- Effects of weight loss prior to conception on pregnancy outcomes
- Influence of breastfeeding compared to formula feeding on infant health
- Influence of maternal body composition and diet on human milk composition
- Optimal introduction to complementary food including the composition of complementary food
- Appetite regulation during infancy
