The August Krogh Section for Human and Molecular Physiology

Research groups
The August Krogh Section for Human and Molecular Physiology advances our scientific understanding of regulatory mechanisms in human physiology and metabolism by providing data-driven insights.
By combining invasive studies on healthy and health-compromised populations with genetically modified animal models, in-vitro systems, and advanced molecular biological methods, we aim to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying human health, disease, and athletic performance, and to translate these findings into actionable insights for disease prevention and treatment as well as the optimization of athletic performance.
Overarching research themes:
- Molecular mechanisms regulating metabolism and their role in metabolic health.
- Interactions between diet, physical activity, and health, including their effects on metabolic regulation, cardiovascular function, and gene expression.
- The impact of interventions, such as exercise training or pharmacological treatments, on physiological adaptations and health in diverse healthy and health compromised populations.
