Bioactive lipids, essential fatty acids, fish, growth and development, health effects of diet in infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood, cognition and brain function, mechanisms of action, diet-gene interaction

 

Research management

  • Involved in numerous observational and experimental studies in children and adults over the past 25 years.
  • PI and/or daily leader of 10 human intervention studies with 60-200 participants and teams of dieticians, bio-analysts, PhD and MSc students.
  • WP leader in 6 large Danish research collaborations
  • Total funding around 20 mill DKK mainly from national Danish research agencies and private foundations
  • International research collaboration with researchers from among other Canada, Australia, USA, UK, NL, Italy, Sweden, Finland and Norway and with researcher at other departments, universities or research institutes in Denmark

 

Research evaluation and education

  • Deputy editor of British Journal of Nutrition, editorial board member of Maternal and Child Nutrition, and reviewer for various international scientific journals
  • Working group member among other on dietetic products for EFSA and the fat expert group for the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations (2012)
  • Member of organizer committees of congress satellites at ISSFAL (2012, 2014) and European Academy of Childhood Disabilities (2015), and Danish Society of Nutrition annual meeting from 2003-2014
  • Evaluations of grant application for a number of research councils and assessor on >20 international or national PhD theses
  • Counseling tasks for ministries, the Danish consumer association, and Danish Aquariums
  • Supervisor of >15 PhD students, >75 MSc & 30 BSc students
  • Mentoring and didactic education of 21 Assistant Professors/Post.Docs
