PhD defence: Exercising for health – is once a week enough?
An investigation of various exercise regimes provided in real-life settings to untrained adults
Tina-Thea Nielsen
PhD thesis
Physical inactivity decreases across a lifespan and regular exercise is of major importance in the prevention and treatment of various chronic conditions.
This thesis investigates the physiological health effects of various exercise regimes when provided in real-life setups (recreational sports clubs and a community health centre) to the adult, middle-aged and elderly population.
Further, the thesis adds knowledge on the use of small-sided team sport as a health-promoting activity for untrained individuals with or at risk of developing lifestyle diseases in a community health centre set-up.
