Olympics in 60 seconds: From Greek myth to modern-day mega-event

overview

The Olympic Games began in ancient Greece in honour of the gods. In addition to an abundance of sports, the Olympics of today are money, politics and propaganda.

The Olympic Games are just around the corner. And while we are waiting to see how the Games in Tokyo will proceed, Professor Hans Bonde talks about the evolution of the Olympics – and about how the Olympic Games have become an arena for international politics since their revival at the end of the 19th century.

I’d encourage everyone to watch the Olympics - not only because something politically wild is bound to happen, but also because it’s a national extravaganza, where we can hope for some medals for Denmark
