The dissertation investigates sport psychological training for young elite athletes. First through a literature review of existing studies of sport psychological skills and training of these, as well as existing knowledge on talent development.

Second through four studies of sport psychological training, in which young elite athletes went through sport psychological training with the purpose of strengthening their motivation, social togetherness, or their self-regulation.

The methods used in these four studies at statistical analyse of quantitative questionnaire data, as well as qualitative analysis of interviews. The knowledge produced in these four studies is discussed in relation to existing knowledge.
