PhD defence: Appetite and energy intake in humans

Effect of substitution of food ingredients and foods

PhD thesis

Frontpage of PhD thesis

The overall aim of this PhD project was to investigate whether replacement of an ingredient or a single food can affect appetite and reduce calorie intake. This is relevant because even small changes in food intake may prevent weight gain and even make it easier to lose weight.

The PhD thesis includes three studies that compare the satiating effect of different ingredients and foods. The results shows that replacement of specific ingredients and foods can affect appetite and reduce calorie intake in the short term.
