Henrik Munch Roager

Postdoc

I combine microbiology and metabolomics to study the human gut microbiota in the context of health and nutrition. I have a PhD in 'Intestinal Host-Microbial Metabolism assessed by Metabolomics' from the Technical University of Denmark and have experience from working with both human dietary intervention studies and animal studies, as well as collaborating with microbiologists, chemists, toxicologists, nutritionists, bioinformaticians, doctors, statisticians, immunologists, and molecular biologists.

Primære forskningsområder

My aim is to apply metabolomics in the field of human gut microbiota research to identify gut microbial metabolites and understand their importance in health and disease.

Current research projects:
  • Interactions between diet and gut microbia and the potential of modulating these interactions for the prevention of metabolic dysfunction and cardiovascular complications in humans (DINAMIC)
  • The effects of a gluten-poor diet on healthy adults (3G center)
  • Bifidobacteria and the development of the immune system early in life (Copenhagen Infant Gut)
  • Microbial tryptophan metabolites in health and disease
