Some of the research projects at the unit.

The SKOT cohort study
Investigates possible interactions between dietary intake, growth, cognitive development, overweight and markers of lifestyle related diseases in small children aged 9-36 months.
A 5 year nutritional research project with the objective to contribute to improving quality of and access to treatment for children with moderate acute malnutrition (MAM).
Contributes to research capacity building in Kenya by supporting PhD studies in the fields of insect production, food product development and economy.


The WINFOOD project has the aim to develop nutritionally improved foods for infants and young children in low-income countries, based on improved utilization of traditional foods, together with improved traditional food technologies. These foods are dubbed “WINFOODs”.
