Lipid Research Group

In our group, we study the regulation of fat metabolism from when fatty acids are absorbed from the blood to when they are deposited in the muscle cell. In addition, regulation of lipolysis and lipid combustion in muscle is investigated in humans and various animal models and cells.

We investigate the regulation of fat metabolism before, during and after physical activity. For example, it is not yet clear what regulates the choice of energy substrates in post-exercise situations.

Another important focus area is diet-induced regulatory mechanisms in relation to, for example, physical activity, insulin sensitivity and lipid metabolism. This involves both fat and muscle tissue as well as the liver. An important element is perfusion of the tissue in order to achieve an influx of energy substrates to cells. Therefore, we also investigate microvascular perfusion.
