Using IT based interventions to improve Physical Activity, Sleep and Health

By Dr. Mitch J Duncan

Dr Duncan is a National Heart Foundation Research Fellow at the School of Medicine & Public Health and Priority Research Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition at the University of Newcastle.

His research is focussed on three areas,

  1. understanding how physical activity and sitting interact with other health behaviours, especially sleep, to impact health;
  2. understanding the determinants these behaviours;
  3. testing IT-based interventions to improve these health behaviours.

This research is currently underway in both adult and youth populations and has been funded by organisations including the National Heart Foundation, National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Australian Research Council (ARC), and Queensland Government.
